Chef Raju Tamang was born and bred in a small village in Nuwakot in the hilly regions of Nepal. As a kid he had a peculiar interest in how his meals were prepared by his mother. This interest led him to commence work in the hospitality industry in 1996 in Nepal and is now an expert in Nepali cuisine. He came to Australia in 2008 and is regarded a prominent personality in the Nepalese community in Canberra, thanks to his friendly nature. He opened Chomolungma to show his passion for authentic Nepali cuisine and offer it in a warm, home cooked style to give recognition to the food he has loved all his life.
